Babyhood

None of us remember our earliest months as babies on this earth, but whenever we adults have the privilege of participating in the life of a baby, we gain a lot of joy and accumulate lots of enjoyable memories—a combination of funny, lovely, and trying memories. New parents usually lose great gobs of sleep, but the rewards are the benefits of first smiles, first steps, and laughter. The fun and delight of watching the development of a little person is a tremendous responsibility and a privilege. One benefit is unexpected insight into what our parents or caretakers sacrificed when we were infants that we might live!

Regardless of how good or how trying our growing up circumstances were, as an adult we can practice identifying things in our upbringing, our growing up years for which we can be thankful. Ask God to show us how to view and interpret the events, the situations, the people in our background in a way that benefits our health, our personality, and our ability to be an asset to society and those people we encounter in our lives today.
