Christmas Decorations

I clapped my hands in delight after I set up my tree and turned the switch to see if the lights still worked this year. I was delighted at the twinkle of the lights. The lights still worked for this year.  There are so many opportunities in December to see decorations that make us smile and lift our spirits in stores, on neighborhood lawns, inside our own homes. There’s something fun and uplifting in these annual activities. The decorations put a smile on our faces and make us glad. Some of them remind us of the reason behind these delightful activities and some are simply fun even if they have no relationship to the “reason for the season”, the birth of Jesus Christ. This season creates real joy. Christmas brings family’s together for celebration, and it nourishes good will towards each other. Of course, as with any good thing, it is possible to overdo and leave ourselves exhausted from their work or regretting unadvised expenditures.

Let’s ask God to keep us balanced in our celebration every year. Please, God, keep our minds focused on the magnificent blessing of the birth of Jesus as we celebrate and keep us balanced with how much time and energy and resources as we celebrate while enjoying all the aspects of this season.
