Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Enthusiasm is Contagious
Two mothers, each with a little girl around 4 years old in tow, entered the fast-food restaurant. One little girl jumped up and down in her excitement to see her friend. Up and down, up and down. Almost non-stop the little girl jumped, wearing a big smile, and clapping her hands. The restaurant viewers couldn’t doubt her delight to see her friend. The other little girl peeked shyly from behind her large stuffed bear which she lifted to partially hide behind. Not put off in the least, the first girl continued to jump and clap. By the time they found their table, the stuffed animal was lowered, and the second little girl’s shy smile emerged. It took a little time, but both children had fun together, giggling and playing with the small toys that came with their meal.
Given time and open-mindedness, people, no matter what age, can find some common ground to enjoy one another. In this day of tensions between nations and people groups, we could all benefit from more harmony and enjoyment of people with whom we differ. God, please help us stay open to relationships with others regardless of race, religion, or philosophy. Give us wisdom about relating to others. Help us keep kindness in the center of our interactions and avoid hostility. At the same time give us Your discernment to protect us from those who would harm us.
