Hatred
A pretty girl stood in the doorway of the mall. As I passed by, she unleased a string of angry obscenities toward her companion. Her lovely face twisted into an ugly mask that matched her rant of hate filled words. Suddenly vitriol replaced beauty. Anger and hate damage our inside physical state as well as harming our exterior appearance. We pay the consequences of allowing hate and anger to rule our thinking. When we are young, we don’t think about the consequences our thinking processes may cost us in the future. We do well to protect our children from influences which push them into angry, resentful thinking rather than into loving thinking. There are plenty of studies that demonstrate that both anger and hate harm us physically as well as mess with our emotional health. Anger and hate can close doors that would otherwise open for us. When we turn our thoughts toward God, He is always ready to help us view others with compassion. If we ask, He will help us pray for protection from being contaminated by the hate in in this world or allowing hate to corrupt our thinking. God help us be a positive influence in the society around us. Protect us from adopting unhealthy, unhelpful, destructive attitudes. Help us model Your love.
