Hope Springs Eternal, Even Now
This is part of a phrase in the Essay of Man by Alexander Pope. The complete phrase is, “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” At the beginning of the new year, people want to feel hopeful. They hope a new year will bring the world new beginnings and better results than the past brought. We hope for the ability to start over and for solutions to knotty problems. History proves we can’t change the world and all it’s problems on every level of every aspect of human existence. Left up to mankind that hope is futile. Man is best at making great messes. BUT we can have hope when we believe that our God is the creator of the universe which includes our world. Hope arises when we believe that He is a good God Who loves us. He is approachable and loves our communication with Him. We can ask Him to enter our lives and unlock our ability to communicate with Him. He will answer us. When we spend time communicating with Him, we will grow closer to grasping a partial understanding of our amazing loving God. The more we know Him, the better we catch how wonderful His love is. On the practical, right here on earth level, we will discover our belief in Him and our ability to trust Him will grow and grow. He is not a magical amulet like a rabbit foot. No. He is our comforter and heavenly Father who cares about what happens with us. He invites us to look at Jesus and grasp the love that came down to earth in the form of man, in order that we might see the love of the Father for His people. There lies the birth of hope for each of us, and its results are eternal.
Great post!
