Nurses

Observing the hospital nurses while accompanying a family member during a recent hospitalization awed us. Even in a hospital full to the brim with the emergency room overflowing onto gurneys in the halls, amazing nurses maintained cheerful, encouraging attitudes. They carefully saw to the medicines, schedules, comfort, and wellbeing of patients. Some patients were in pain, some were worried, and some were aggravated at the necessity of an unexpected hospital stay. Those unflappable nurses took care of them all. They met needs, stayed alert to any significant changes, and went the extra mile—even for family members. Watching these remarkable people function, made us highly appreciative of the time and money they had spent studying and keeping up with medical advances and changes as well as their long hours of putting other’s interests over their own.

We are extremely thankful for these faithful angels in disguise. How many other people in unsung occupations make our lives better? Let’s ask God to keep us alert to the sacrifices big or small that others make for our lives, God awaken our awareness of those who labor in whatever capacity to make our lives safer, healthier and happier, Remind us to pray for them whenrever we encounter them. God, take special care of all the nurses around our nation who faithfully minister to those who need them.
