One + One = Two

What a delightful experience we had at a high tea when our group traveled out of town to a fancy Hotel with elaborate Christmas decorations and tasty treats. But in God’s usual way, He provided even more blessings for us. That delightful tea party experience in a beautiful setting wasn’t the high light. One of our companions on the trip was joined for the experience by her two daughters and a granddaughter who lived in that city. The delight the four of them experienced at the unusual opportunity to share such a treat was the highlight. The beaming of family faces because they were together out-shone the glorious decorations. The unusual joy of sharing a rare experience with loved ones spread to the rest of us around the table. The opportunity to be glad for another’s happiness multiplies our own happiness. Just like one plus one equals two, when we appreciate and rejoice in the blessings of others, our own joy is multiplied and our sense of blessedness enlarged. Let’s remember to ask Him to help us recognize the blessings of God on other lives and to help us genuinely rejoice in those blessings.  We can fill our lives with more gladness than one life can hold when God enables us to rejoice for other’s good fortune.
