Praying Friends
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Praying Friends
The texts began to fly. Little ten-week-old twin babies were sick. One showed signs of labored breathing, and both were fussy. Some symptoms could have been signs of several nasty diseases running across the nation. Prayer chains were notified. In a short time, word came that the tests were negative for the dreadful things. The sickness was probably simply a bad cold instead of one of the awful possibilities. The texting, praying friends cheered and thanked God. Despite extra crying, stuffy noses, and a tired Mommy and Daddy, all is well. What a blessing to have friends who care about what touches one another and are quick to pray and believe in God’s goodness. There is no greater treasure than praying friends and family. No amount of money, no claims to fame, no position of authority is more valuable than having loving, praying friends and family.
A good route to acquiring prayer partners is to join a church and participate in any or all prayer opportunities. When you earnestly pray for another’s needs, others will pray for your needs whenever they arise. There is something special about praying with others. It unites your hearts in a deep way. Hearts united in prayer are united at a different level as a direct result of seeking God together. Today in this world of technical marvels, one can even feel a special connection with people from a texting prayer chain. While missing the eye to eye, hand to hand connection, texts span the miles between people and allow us to agree together before our God. He isn’t hindered in the least by the distances. Thank you, God, for the blessing of prayer communities.
