Smells Good
The Rose Garden was gorgeous. The only reason a person driving along the country road past farm after farm knew to stop to see the large garden was a sign reading.”Stop and Smell the Roses.” We are glad we stopped. Row after row of large, perfect roses bearing such names as Princess Diana, Ketchup and Mustard, and Vavoom formed a lovely tribute to the deceased wife of the man who lived there. The delightful scents of the flowers were easily as pleasing as the beautiful colors of perfect blossoms. So many of the hot-house roses sold today are completely lacking in that lush, full bodied smell. We drew in long breaths of the perfume of these fragrant flowers.
2 Corinthians 2:15 speaks of being the fragrance of Christ to God. Ephesians 5:2 says,
‘and walk in love, as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.’ When we demonstrate love, we smell good to God, and He is able to use us in ways to bring a sweet smell into people’s lives. Let’s ask God to use our lives to bring the fragrance of God that encourages people and lifts their spirits.
