A Horsey Example
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
A Horsey Example
A magnificent horse, a French Percheron, pulled our large carriage with sixteen passengers around historic Charleston, South Carolina. Along with fascinating, significant sites, the horse, himself, provided interest. He hauled our weight with little effort. His immense hoofs clip-clopped over the cobblestones with a satisfying sound. He made a handsome sight with his princely harnesses. With our front row view, we noticed his instant response to the feathery prompt from the driver’s crop. The barest touch, almost as slight as a butterfly wing, prompted the horse right or left and to stop or start with no hesitation. His obedience contributed to our comfort and safety. He disliked the large, noisy tour busses; but we wouldn’t have known it if the driver had not called our attention to the way he pointed his ears and stared at the busses.
I watched the marvelous animal and wished I responded to the guidance of my Lord as quickly and completely as this horse. Perhaps my safety and comfort would be better if I didn’t hesitate nor let my likes or dislikes rule my reactions. God help me recognize your guidance even when it is a light as a butterfly wing.
