A Child’s Perspective
The perspective of a three-year-old often delights us. Our precious three-year-old great grandchild recently visited us in our retirement community. She relished every moment of her time downstairs in the community indoor pool. Now she asks to return to “Mammy’s big house and swim in Mammy’s pool” Ha, ha. To this dear, little one’s perspective, the very large building that contains our apartment along with the indoor community pool belongs to us. How cute is that? Every moment we are privileged to spend time with her and our other great grandchildren we get to see life through their perspective which blesses us beyond description. A young viewpoint provides many a chuckle and enlarges our own perspectives while filling our lives with joy.
I imagine if we adopt a child’s perspective in our relationship with our God, we will find more gladness in our lives. If we can manage sometimes to come to God with the awe and viewpoint of a little child, we will find new insights. When we acknowledge He is indeed the creator and owner of all the beautiful creations on our planet, our view of God enlarges. When we see Him as the author of the greatest delights in our lives, it is easy to grow in thankfulness. When we spend time enjoying an on-going relationship with God, it goes both ways. He enjoys His creation, and our comprehension of His love helps our faith to grow. As our faith grows, so does our enthusiasm about our God. We can clap, sing, smile and speak our gratitude for the blessings of a relationship with Him. We can worship him in the simplicity of child. A child notices the small things, and we profit from noticing the small things that God does too. God, please grow our childlike faith.
