A Happy House
Mary’s Monday Musings
A House Full of Joy
Family gathered under the same roof. What a joy! What a Privilege! You’ve heard the expression, ‘shout it from the housetops.’ This Christmas, if a roof can shout, ours is shouting to announce to the squirrels scampering upon it and the birds and airplanes flying over it, and the neighbors on every side that we have family coming to visit for Christmas. We’re bursting with joy because two of our grown sons and families and our daughter will be under our roof to celebrate Christmas with us. Under our rooftop, our wide smiles will rejoice TOGETHER over the birth of Christ. Never take family gatherings for granted. Even in the stresses of the daily ups and downs of raising a family, take time to thank God for the privilege of being together under the same roof.
The normal progression is for children to grow up, become capable of living independently, and to establish their own home. We know it is good to work toward these goals, in spite of the likelihood that as the children become self-sufficient we will not always be able to gather for every holiday under the same roof. We sacrifice that for the blessing of little ones becoming functioning adults with God’s purposes to fulfill in this world. When we do experience the privilege of coming back together for some occasion, it’s like a bit of heaven on earth. Sweeter because we know not to take it for granted and to thank God for the love which draws us together. Consider this Christmas how great God’s love is for each of us. He allowed His only son to leave Heaven and sent him to earth in the form of man with the purpose to suffer and die for us so that one day, we might be reunited with Him under the canopy of heaven. Go shout it from the housetops that Jesus Christ is Lord. AND appreciate every minute spent with family and friends.
