A hole in the Cloud

A Hole in the Clouds
The cloud cover made the likelihood of seeing the lunar eclipse seem dim, but we drove to a nearby school anyway. At least from the parking lot, trees wouldn’t block the view of the sky. Once there, we realized the clouds blanketed most of the sky with only a few small holes to break the solid overcast. The chances of the tiny breaches in the clouds aligning with the moon to give us a glimpse seemed small. The clouds didn’t seem to be moving, instead they looked stuck overhead. My husband asked the Lord for a glimpse, and within minutes we could tell by the little gaps that the cloud cover was moving. Shortly, we could see the eclipse above us. A lovely sight that demonstrated how God sometimes arranges our earth and it’s universe to delight the heart of man.
Whether or not we could see the eclipse was not a life or death matter, nor would it change the outcome of our day in any measure, but it did delight our hearts. The suddenness of the clouds moving to reveal the sight provided a demonstration of God’s great power and authority over all His creation. A little puff of His wind and the clouds move for whatever His purposes. Whenever our lives feel as if a cloud hangs heavy over them, remembering how he arranged the clouds to move for many of us to view the eclipse will help us trust in His authority to intervene in our live. We can trust His power to reveal His love, His grace, His mercy. Just as we delight in seeing natural phenomenon, He delights in touching our lives to bless us. He need not always rearrange the clouds over our lives to suit us, but we can always trust in His love.
