A Red Moon
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
A Red Moon
I’ve heard the expression “once in a blue moon”, but I hadn’t heard about a red moon. To my delight this week, I watched one take place in front of my eyes. We had the privilege of seeing a total moon eclipse in our southeastern sky. Although we had some clouds, we were happy they didn’t interfere with the sight of the moon passing into the deepest part of the earth’s shadow as the sun, earth, and moon aligned. At first there were hints of red in the rim that stood out around the moon. The color deepened as the eclipse became more complete until the moon became a red ball.
We joined another couple on the sidewalk to watch the changes in the heavenly display. To have others as thrilled with the unfolding sight multiplied the enjoyment of the occasion. The wonders of God’s world bring a lot of delight and are even better when they are shared with someone. The perfect orbit of the moon and earth, steady and dependable, also once scientists learned their path, predictable. When we learn to lean on the dependable and predictable love of God, we too can count on His steady concern for our lives. When we have the privilege of sharing our experiences of God’s beautiful touches with others, and we learn about their experiences with God; our love and faith in our heavenly father grows and grows adding beautiful dimensions to our lives. God’s presentation of an eclipse or any other natural wonder helps build our faith.
