A Tribute to A Good Friend
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement:
A Tribute to a Good Friend
I’m so glad God created pets. In particular, this morning I’m thankful for a dog named Tyson. A large, muscular dog, his attractive black coat sported patches of white which were dotted with black spots in assorted sizes. A mixed breed, he was probably a good part pit-bull. This solid, imposing animal devoted his life to loving our grandson. He slept in his room, Whenever his master left the house, he lay down in front of the door where the boy left and kept watch until he returned. He followed him around, mostly ignoring the other dogs in the house. This faithful dog focused on his boy and lavished unconditional love on him.
Through a great pet, God supplies that fortunate owner with a small, earthly demonstration of an important aspect of His character—LOVE. Of course, God’s love is larger and deeper than any animal’s love. His is a love that endures, a love that is without end, steadfast and eternal, and beyond the capacity of a human to fully comprehend. Nonetheless, a person who experiences the love of an animal, catches a tiny glimpse of the joy of receiving the love of our Heavenly Father. As it says in 1st Peter 1:8 ‘…ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.’ Our hearts dance with gladness at the teeny hint of God’s great love for us. Thank you Tyson. You served your purpose well. Thank you God for creating Tyson and providing him to our grandson.
