A Wonder
The size, the colors, the depth and variety of the Grand Canyon are indeed spectacular. The sights are pleasing wherever one looks. One can only stand in awe and enjoy the privilege of seeing the magnificent work of God. Thankfully, we don’t need one of the wonders of the world to stand in awe of our God.
Every sunset and each sunrise should arouse a sense of awe. The emerging of a tender spring crocus flower through hard, snowy ground amazes us. The smile of a groom at the first sight of his bride makes our eyes moist. The wiggling, tail-wagging greeting of a puppy when his master greets him touches our emotions. Beyond sights, the giggle of a baby is a delightful wonder. The pounding of waves on the sand reminds us of the power of God. We can enjoy the awe of God everyday if we keep our senses alert to the role of God all around us. God, help us maintain our sense of awe and delight in You through both the large and small things in all of our days. Help us recognize and appreciate the world You put around us. Give us a sensitivity to Your Presence. Give us eyes and ears that appreciate the small sights and sounds as much as the mighty grand ones.
