Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Babies
The birth of a newborn baby brings special excitement and joy. Funny how a small bundle of total dependency carries renewed hope for the future by merely sleeping, yawning, and crying. We wonder what talents hide in that tiny body. What will the child do with life on this earth? How will the new life make a difference on this earth? What kind of relationships will this bitty child develop when grown? The possibilities are endless. After the birth of a child, any dream is possible.
What a privilege to hold a brand-new, blanket-wrapped newborn. Whether or not we are able to hold a baby soon after birth, we can still pray for newborns when we learn of their births. Pray for their dispositions. Pray they develop self-control. Pray they learn how to be kind. Pray their capacity to love others develops quickly and well. Pray they develop a relationship with God at an early age. Prayer allows us to participate in a baby’s life regardless of distance. There is no greater gift one can give an infant than to pray for them and their future.
