Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Church

I’m so glad God established Church way back when. Each church has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. It’s a lot easier to change churches than our geography. Jobs, homes, schools can stay constant if we move from one congregation to another, but in spite of the ease of moving, there are amazing blessings from choosing one that reflects your idea of what a church should be and sticking with it. Every church has its own climate which differs from any other. Since churches are made up of people and people are in process, we will disappoint one another from time to time in assorted ways. Sticking through the ups and downs grows us in unexpected ways. We need to ask God about where He wants us to go to church among many good choices. Since this is an emotional decision it’s good to seek counsel to confirm your thoughts before deciding.

When we plunge into the life of a church, our emotional investment makes it easier to choose to overlook one another’s flaws, and hope others overlook our own. As we mesh ourselves into the goal of representing Christ to those around us and our community, we begin to enjoy a sense of family. Gathering together week after week forms an atmosphere of loyalty and devotion which, because of God’s anointing, results in the rich blessings of love beyond our normal human experience. Church becomes a huge blessing of love, delight, and growth in understanding God. This time of separation forced upon us by the coronavirus pandemic highlights the unspeakable blessing of gathering together with like-minded believers. What treasures God has planted in each human being for us to discover, enjoy, and treasure. Church is a treasure chest of blessings. Find one and commit to it.
