Community Singing

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Community Singing

Hands clapped, toes tapped, heads swayed to the rhythm of the songs. The neighbor’s voices combined to make a rousing blend of sopranos and baritones that filled the park with music which united hearts around the words they sang. There’s something special about an opportunity to join into a community sing. There is a sense of unity when we come together each of us using our voices to mix with those around us to produce a strong message pulsing through the air. We used to have a lot of patriotic songs people knew and sang, regardless of their generation. Throughout our country we had a common repertoire we could sing together. Community sings aren’t as common today as they were in the days before television.

Still, we have opportunities to join into singing our national anthem at assorted types of gatherings. Until the pandemic, we could lift our voices to sing about the love, power and goodness of God in our churches. In spite of the pandemic, Sunday still offers a chance to join our voices together with the congregation and shout our praises to God. The power of God is greater than the hindrances of our days. Let’s keep our hearts on fire with singing and shouting praises unto God wherever we live. Regardless of a nasty virus, God is worthy of our praise and worship. Isaiah 59:1 “Behold the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; neither is His ear so dull that it cannot hear” NAS. Let’s unite our voices to tell Him how we love him and rest in His love. He is alive and well.
