Crashing Waves
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Crashing Waves
The waves broke without violence, but they were high and strong enough to knock over the three little children, ages two, three and four. Two tall Daddies provided strong arms to safely carry the children past the breakers in their puddle jumpers which encircled their arms and fastened securely around their chests, enabling them to float and enjoy the swells. The Daddies stayed close to protect and provide the children with a sense of security. Once in a while a wave broke early, and Daddy held the child up above the reach of the water.
Sometimes waves of troubles break over our lives with a violence strong enough to knock us off our emotional feet. We feel swamped and over our heads in the trial. We wish for physical arms to lift us up and carry us past the churning difficulties to calmer water, and sometimes people step up to lift our spirits while we are in the whirlpool of troubles. Regardless, whenever the waves of life crash over us, I’m so glad we can call out to God to buoy us up like the children’s puddle jumper floaters. Our heavenly father is with us at those times we are over our heads in the waters of trials. In the NAS Bible, Isaiah 43:2a says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you…” Call out to God. Ask Him to hold us up in the middle of our plight. He will give us the resources to endure and come through life’s problems. Even if the waves continue to crash, He is with us.
