Crater
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Crater
The hole in the ground was enormous. A meteor long, long ago broke out of space and slammed into the earth, making a wide, deep bowl in the middle of a barren area of Arizona. How the earth must have shook and the noise reverberated when the enormous meteor struck. The scar on the earth reminds us that our way of life, our nation, our world is subject to powers beyond our control and knowledge. Thoughts about such an immense occurrence boggles the mind. The displays at the Meteor Crater presented some fascinating information and scientific understandings along with ideas that scientists might use to prevent a recurrence of such an event.
I will leave the understanding to the scientists who explore how to prevent such things. However, all of us bear scars on our own private emotions, our minds, or our hearts; and we do well to deal with the great hole they left so we can make something positive out of them. Instead of covering up the great crater our scars have left on our thinking, let’s ask God to show us how to make a plus out of the unfortunate things that have slammed into our hearts. God, show us how to take our emotional craters and bring a positive result out of them so that we have healthy thoughts others may benefit from our experiences. Help us go forward to live unshaken lives and make the sound that reverberates from our hurts a tune of peace and victory.
