The six year old girl’s eyes sparkled when she opened her birthday present. It was a piece of jewelry designed especially for young girls. She immediately donned the charm bracelet, smiling her approval of the beetle, butterfly, boot, and crown charms. Her great grandmother was even more pleased to have found a gift that truly brought her delight. The child’s thank you was genuine.

 

I wonder how often our God feels the same way about a gift He drops into our life. Does He take as much pleasure as a grandma does to see us enjoy something He arranges for our lives that we didn’t expect? I think he likes surprising us with experiences that delight our hearts. He can do remarkable things we don’t expect. Perhaps He, has a promotion to deposit on your life or a gorgeous sunset to high-light your evening, Maybe He moves on someone to write you a heartfelt thank you note for something you did with no thought of reward. Just like the birthday girl, let’s make sure we thank God each time we recognize Him behind the blessings of our days. We never err to give him great thanks for the small pleasures each day offers.
