Eclipse

            Wasn’t it fun to enjoy a spectacular event in our solar system and know that thousands of Americans were also enjoying the eclipse as it moved across the nation? There was a sense of unity as we shared glasses and watched the marvel of the moon blocking out the sun to whatever percentage it occurred in our particular geographic area. What an amazing show! Since God established the path of the moon when he placed it in the heavens, eclipses don’t surprise him. God graciously allowed scientists to figure out the where and when of eclipses for our enjoyment.. His design for the path of the moon to  briefly block the light of the sun from the earth brings delight to us humans and for a brief moment united our hearts as we enjoyed the event together—a wholesome unity which breaks down barriers!

Consider what a mighty miracle it would be if we could maintain that sense of unity with our fellow man that we enjoyed from village to town to stadiums as we gathered to enjoy the magnificent sight of the eclipse travel over our land. His great love has kept the sun shining on our earth, warming us. He keeps us at just the right distance from its fiery surface. It pleases Him when we pray for ways to get along with one another. God help us all replace negative feelings with kindly feelings toward one another. Protect us from the hostility of those who foster angry reactions.
