Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Exercise
Before the minor league baseball game, the team members were not only throwing balls to one another to warm up their throwing arms and their visual acumen, they also were twisting their bodies in exercises and stretching into some curious positions to limber up their muscles. High stepping marches, as well as attaining positions which made me wince to watch readied the players’ bodies to perform what was needed to catch fast balls, redirect them rapidly and accurately, and run or slide safely into the bases.
Most of us don’t play ball for a living, but we all have a body which we wish was in top notch shape or at least in better shape. Watching those baseball players moving their bodies every which way to attain a peak performance makes my feeble exercises seem ridiculous. But any kind of exercise is better than no exercise. Keeping all our joints moving and strengthening our muscles is a goal worthy of our time and attention. Society offers an abundance of books that provide exercise diagrams of various levels of difficulty. There are numerous videos and classes for us. Begin with simple goals which aren’t too hard to reach but keeps us moving all our joints and targeting muscles groups which especially need work. Lord, please lead each of us to the best way to exercise the amazing body You have given each of us. Lead us to something within our individual reach which enhances our fitness.
