Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Extreme Beauty
The calm water shimmered in the late afternoon sun while the rhythm of the waves lulled us to relax. The sand warmed and soothed my feet. The breezes blew away the cares of the day, and the delicious food provided a sense of special pampering. The church women’s luau accomplished it’s goal. All this delight did not eclipse the importance of the people that evening. The beautiful people were the highlight of the event. I’ll venture that few of those gorgeous, beautiful people think of themselves as beautiful, but they are. I enjoyed all the faces lit with smiles, their profiles set off by the background of the water. Each face brought me gladness. Some countenances, smooth and vibrant in youth, exuded enthusiasm for the delights life will bring. Other faces, older and more wrinkled demonstrated the ability to look back with fondness, but ahead with a peaceful perspective that was hewed by life’s difficulties. Years of trial mixed with blessings put a patience, a perspective that polishes our souls to a shimmering loveliness like the sheen of the sea that lapped our shores.
I think God sees each of us as winners in the extreme beauty category. We are winners because He made each one of us. He makes us beautiful in ways we mere humans can barely comprehend. He also made this beautiful world as a backdrop for his beloved people. He enjoys His beautiful children, and His love shimmers to encourage us through every day and every trial.
