God’s Annonymous Army
Monday’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
God’s Anonymous Army
The scene brought a smile to all who had the privilege to see it. Big sister pushed a covered stroller carrying a tiny baby. Big brother carried a younger sister, toddler size but a challenge to his young arms. All happily followed Granddaddy, who carried their groceries to the car. All had pleasant expressions on their faces. Even the infant stared at the world peacefully. I glimpsed a tiny moment in the day of a family I didn’t know, a little slice of a strangers life.
Was Granddaddy visiting from a distance and giving Mama a break? Did the children cry and squabble when the car pulled away? I didn’t need to know to silently ask God to bless the family and keep them well in body, soul and spirit. Am I always quick to ask God’s favor upon a passing stranger? No! But the lovely picture of a family carrying out a mundane task reminded me that I could silently ask God to show Himself to people whose lives intersect mine as a regular habit. Not only does that momentary act of silently praying for God’s best for a stranger open horizons for them, it stretches my heart for compassion. I’ll never know another thing about that family, but a quiet prayer for others fills my day with a peace and purpose and opens my own heart toward what God can do in the people around me. I wonder what an anonymous army of God, praying good will to those whose paths we cross, could accomplish. Our prayers may sow a little harmony in our troubled world unbeknownst to us.
