God’s Love
How can we, mere mortals, convey the quality, the quantity, the magnitude, and depth of God’s love? We can look up love in the thesaurus. We can use the fanciest, biggest words we know for love. We can observe magnificent scenery He made, draw hearts, or paint soulful facial expressions, but all that barely hints at the immensity of God’s love. Every generation from the beginning of man until today has searched for ways to convey God’s love. At our best, we can only try to convey what our minds cannot completely grasp. You may think of tenderness, it is more. You may think of passion, it is more. You may think of caring, it is more. No matter how extravagant you are in attempts to describe God’s love for us, His love is even more extravagant. His love is so far beyond what we humans comprehend; we cannot dissect it.
Instead, we can realize we don’t need to understand everything about God’s love. We need to know how to rest assured it is there, and it is for us. We can simply rejoice that it is amazing as we open our hearts to receive His love by faith. We can express our love for God in return. We can thank Him for opening our hearts and minds to meet Him day after day and to enlarge our capacity to love Him even as He opens our hearts to know Him better and better. Relax in Prayer before Him. He will show each of us what we need to understand at whatever level satisfies His plans. We don’t need to strive to grasp all the details. He is the one who, because of His unending love, grasps us and opens our souls to rest in His Love. If we tell him we want to be better able to receive His love, He will help us. If we ask Him to help us recognize His love in our daily doings, He will open our eyes, ears and heart to recognize His love as we go about our days.
