Guard Dog
The white, fluffy-coated Pyrenees faithfully guards the goats in his charge.
With his doggy senses ever alert to the possibility of danger, his warning barks punctuate the night whenever coyotes roam near the pen. His sense of responsibility also extends to his people family. He cornered two small copperhead snakes, and his noise attracted his owner to investigate. While he approached the scene the large, muscular dog picked up one snake and with a violent shake broke it’s spine and tossed it away before it could consider biting him. After dispatching the second snake, his master brought the dog inside to examine him and make sure he hadn’t received a bite in his scrimmage. He hadn’t. but he did have a sore on one toe. We all praised the beautiful canine. “What a good dog.” His family tended to the toe, and he continues to faithfully guard his charges.
If God created breeds of dogs who instinctively and faithfully perform the variety of roles He designed for them, how much more does God involve Himself in the lives and care of His people. He is faithful and worthy of our trust.
