Laughter
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Laughter
I find the laughter of babies and toddlers irresistible. I’m sure I’m not alone. Nothing can make a person break into smiles or giggles better than a little one chortling over some simple sight, sound, or action. A good laugh makes us feel lighter and happier, chasing away our concerns for the moment. An individual’s life span is short. The older we get, the more we consider how important our decisions are about how to spend this wonderful miracle of life. Why waste it on anger, or resentment, or bitterness? Various studies indicate that sometimes, energy, and emotion spent in these negative responses, can trigger the arrival of some ugly diseases and results. God gives us free will to make important choices in our lives about how we react.
We win when we choose to look on the bright side, on God’s abilities even when in a difficult situation. God, help us to bring joy and laughter into others’ lives when others are in hard places. Help us to lay the burdens of this life at Your feet and to give up the expensive luxury of emotional explosions. Help us seek You for Your peace and then enable us to spread it liberally to all around us. Help us learn to trust You in all things, in order to keep a cap on the temptations to respond to disturbing things with negative emotions. Instead, we ask You to use us to spread good humor and the joyful laughter that comes from knowing God.
