Life is Precious
Mary’s Monday Musing to Quilt Encouragement
Life is Precious
She didn’t invent a marvelous gadget. She didn’t hold an office. She didn’t compose a remarkable creative piece of art. She wasn’t famous nor did she know a large number of people, but her funeral was sweet. We reflected on how wonderfully purposeful her life was. Her smile blessed those who interacted with her. Her pleasure in simple things helped anchor those around her to the importance of appreciating the ordinary things of life. Her capacity to love expanded the understanding of love to those around her. Her love of God was uncomplicated. Her life counted to those privileged to know her. Most of us can relate to this woman. We aren’t accumulating a long list of accomplishments, but most of us do address the tasks our days require. We want to please those around us. We want to have a positive influence on those we encounter. God’s measure of the value of life is different from ours. He isn’t measuring our accomplishments. He knows our capacities and treasures every advance we make in our ability to love. He uses people such as this precious woman to increase our love ability.
God help us look upon others with compassion. Help us see beyond what people accomplish to comprehend what You see in them. Cause us to live our lives well in Your eyes so that others may say of us what the family said of this woman who loved You in the most simple of terms. “She loved well.”
