Lost Earrings
Mary’s Monday Musings
Lost and Found
My favorite earrings were lost. They were simple silver earrings that were extremely comfortable, and went with everything. I hunted every place that I might have reasonably put them but didn’t find them. Then I hunted every little place I could have absent-mindedly have put them. No earrings. Next I looked in all the reasonable and unreasonable places again. No results. After a third thorough search with the same results, I began to think about visiting a store to hunt for a replacement, and I grumbled to my husband.
He sympathized and said a prayer for me to find them.
I murmured and wrote ‘shop for earrings’ on my list of things to do. The next days were full of necessary chores until, eventually, errand day arrived. While dressing to leave, I went to my jewelry box for earrings. Imagine my surprise to find my silver earrings resting plainly in the box; albeit, one little section over from their usual place.
Did an angel slip those earrings where I would find them? I don’t know although we often say we have a find-it-angel who graces our house when we hunt and find lost items. It doesn’t matter that I know how they appeared in a place I had already looked three times. What matters is that my happy find makes me remember to stay thankful for how much God cares about even the trivial details of my life. He enjoys me talking with him about whatever is on my mind at the moment. If finding insignificant lost earrings matters to me, think how much more finding people who have lost their way to God matters to Him. I think God enjoys my prayers for lost people and answering those prayers is a high priority for the both of us.
