Mary’s Monday Musing to Quilt Encouragement
Milestones
Smiles abounded in the gymnasium. The delight of the seniors about to graduate electrified the air. Families craned to identify their particular graduate as the students marched in to the famous musical strains of Pomp and Circumstance. Energy and excitement stirred the air. Graduation from High School is a major milestone in the life of our children. It’s a great blessing to be able to participate in this major event whether it be with a card, a gift, or the privilege of attending the actual ceremony. The congratulatory words, the praise, the chorus of well-done help motivate the youngsters for future achievements.
We don’t stop needing approval and praise after we graduate from High School. Humans long to feel they are significant in some way. Since grand ceremonies or award ceremonies are rare for the adult, let’s ask God to alert us to opportunities to encourage one another. We are never too old for a card, a note of approval, acts of appreciation, or time spent with us. God help us celebrate one another’s life. To notice a milestone or an achievement is to minister to a need of our souls. God heighten our awareness of opportunities to build each other up. Keep us alert to the small achievements of people around us such as their smiles, their kindnesses, or their serving behind the scenes. Adults don’t need a cap and gown, but a pat on the back or an attaboy would go a long way.
