Music under the Stars
Outdoor concerts played by expert bands provide some of summer’s nicest pleasures. As we listened to the Air Force band playing a concert in honor of the 75 years of that military branch, a cargo ship veered a little closer to the shore to hear the rousing music. The ship carried multiple layers of cargo containers. We couldn’t help wondering if they contained some of the items we need to fill our empty store shelves. The Air Force band played several stirring pieces before the ship steered back to the path toward their port.
In the freedom of an outdoor setting, children played with balls and waved wands to make soap bubbles. Adults tapped their toes as the music floated across the lawn. A lovely breeze blew its comfort, and the clouds in the sky passed by without rain. We were delighted to see friends we’d not seen for a long time, partially because of the pandemic. What a happy start to the summer. A summer where we can experience a heightened appreciation for activities which we took for granted before the jolting interruption of the nasty Covid virus. Regrettably, it sometimes requires a loss before we are properly appreciative of our blessings. Let’s take a moment to thank God for all the things we missed and are now privileged to enjoy again. Let’s allow our hearts to fill with renewed gratitude for many things we have previously accepted as a part of our regular existence. Now we can bring much gratefulness for our regular life that we took for granted prior to the pandemic. What pleasant experience which you enjoyed before the pandemic can you now see in a new light? What routine can we now value as a tremendous blessing?
