Nesting Birds
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Nesting Birds
Chirping babies stretched their necks from their nest when the barn swallow parent swooped under the porch roof and into the narrow ledge where a carefully crafted nests rested. Several nests decorated the rim of the porch ceiling where discerning birds found a safe haven to raise their young. The grace of the flying parents, the distinct silhouette of the swooping birds accompanied by their calls provided a treat for our eyes and ears. The birds stayed snugly hidden below the rim of their nests until mama flew in to deliver her insect feast to her brood. Then they greeted her with chirps and stretched their heads up for her treats. Since the hungry babies voracious appetites required their parents to constantly hunt and deliver food, we could enjoy the sights and sounds of many birds anytime we stepped onto the porch.
We delighted in the experience. Don’t you think God delights even more in His human creation? When we stretch our minds to think about our creator, or our voices chirp out a song of praise to Him, or we feast on the evidences that He cares about us and our world, I think He enjoys us as much as we enjoyed those birds. He created us and he loves us. If we keep our senses attuned to Him, we will catch glimpses of him swooping in to provide and care for us.
