Phone Calls
Several times a year my phone rings, and I answer it to hear the voice of a very loved first cousin. What a special treat to catch up with another branch of our large, wildly scattered family. We find out what’s going on in each other’s lives and feel the warm, fuzzy feeling that family connection can bring. The feeling of love that a nice talk over the telephone can bring is priceless. Hearing the tone of voice, the warmth of love expressed by taking time out of busy days to call, conveys a love that crosses the miles and encourages both parties on the call. The sense that people care about one another is a precious gift we have in our power to give each other. Texts and letters can convey love and care but misses the personal voice exchange of thoughts and ideas. By using all these means of communication, we can be a source of real encouragement to our loved ones, both friends and family.
Let’s ask God to give us a little nudge when someone we love can use a small evidence that someone cares about them. Heed that little nudge to connect with people. It’s worth the effort. The time and effort brings valuable results. The result of conveying the sense of ongoing connection and genuine love and caring brings good fruit to one another’s lives.
