Simple Fun
Finding an activity which intrigues children of a wide range of ages is a challenge. An understanding mama found a delightful activity that pleased children from age four all the way to age eleven. All the children were entertained by simple, colorful paper streamers attached to plastic sticks. They played together for a significant amount of happy fun. The older children led the younger ones as they ran in circles holding their streamers overhead with shouts of joy and alternating with marching in line and waving the streamers. A byproduct? The expenditure of an abundant amount of energy. We enjoyed the spectacle as much as the young participants did. This simple activity joined the diverse ages into a unified group, forming fond memories, building strong relationships, and cooperation among the children.
Whenever a wholesome activity builds a bond between people, children or adults, good memories result. Shared experiences make the kind of memories that create lasting bonds. Taking time for recreation is worth while for families. An added benefit when these activities are a part of a church activity is the sense of the joy of God. God made to us to enjoy the fellowship of people together. Fun doesn’t have to be expensive. If we look to God, He will inspire us with wholesome and inexpensive ideas to foster the deepening of relationships.
