“Delicious,” My husband agreed. “Who would have thought such good candy could come from Spruce needles, of all things.”

Apparently, Sitka needles are also used to make a tea that is good for several health issues. The original residents of Alaska were savvy about using this plentiful resource from the abundant Sitka forests long before the gold seekers flocked to the Alaska area, seeking riches. In the midst of harsh living conditions, the tall straight Sitka trees soothed many ailments for our gold prospectors.

Today, people are still discovering wonderful ways to use resources God made. Our earth is full of substances God made to help our health, and we benefit from them daily. What future discoveries will we find about what we can extract from things that grow on our earth? What amazing love God has for the creatures he created! Every time we look at the things that grow from the earth, we can thank God for the treasures he planted all around us. We can continue to pray for researchers who search to discover how to use the riches that abound in our lovely world and thank God for the amazing way, he structured our world.
