Sled Dogs
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Sled dogs
We watched sixteen sled dogs prance with eager excitement as they were hitched to the traces that connected them to one another and the sled they would practice pulling. With tails wagging in pleasure, the dogs yipped in happy anticipation of the exercise. One of them was so eager he couldn’t keep all four of his feet on the ground. He kept leaping up off the ground as if to get started only to be pulled back by his traces. Once the signal was given, the entire team of dogs were off, pulling with all their might and presenting a mighty show of raw power. They ran their course lickety-split and then romped with delight into the river to cool off and quench their thirst. Their joy in their task was as much fun to watch as was their accomplishment.
I wonder if God takes as much pleasure in watching us when we undertake a task for the Kingdom of God. Do we have the same sense of excitement and joy that those dogs did? Are we as enthusiastic about our opportunities to serve via our church in the Kingdom of God? Let’s ask God for a sense of excitement and delight with our routine opportunities to serve people and Him. Let’s even leap ahead and ask Him for more ways we can participate in what He wants done in our immediate world around us. Image God smiling over us as we leap to the opportunities God offers us to be used to benefit His creation.
