Snow

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Snow

Snow wears two faces. The sight and sound of children making snowmen, throwing snowballs, delightful laughter while lying on their backs and making snow angels. Hot chocolate, fireplaces, and marshmallow roasting. Family games while warm inside.

The other face. The enormous road blockage of hundreds of car unable to move on I-95 below Washington DC this week. The shivering of hundreds in15 degrees, the squeal of tires trying to brake before sliding out of control into other cars. The scream of metal tearing into metal of cars on ice. The trees blown down weighted by loads of snow, the cold indoors where electricity is lost from lines down.

Life is full of things that can be good or bad according to how they are used. Fire to cook our food, or fire to burn a house down. Dynamite to blow open a mountain to build a road or dynamite to blow up a crowd watching a marathon. Words to build up a person’s confidence. Words used to tear down another person’s character. We have a choice how we use things in our life and respond to people around us. God has chosen to love people because He made them. Even when He sees the corruption, the black side of our personalities, His love is steady. We can endeavor to mimic Him and ask His help to choose the good uses of the things in our world and choose the loving way to relate to others.
