Spring Blooms
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Spring Blooms
I love the perky daffodils, cheery forsythia, and ornamental pear trees bearing lovely blossoms. After the cold and gray skies of winter, the appearance of first spring flowers always surprises me. The weather seems way too chilly for flowers, yet there they are in all their splendor, gracing our land and lifting my spirits. What does it take to lift a person’s spirits? A promotion, a raise, a new house, or sometimes anything new will do the trick. While those things can certainly delight a person, our happiness had better not rely on such things to lift our spirits.
These sorts of delights are not dependable nor frequent happenings. The beauty of nature every spring and the lovely colors of fall leaves, majestic mountains and all the lovely sights nature displays lifts our spirits. But these sights aren’t always available.
A kind word, a sincere hug, a warm smile gives our spirits a lift even if it is only momentary. We do have one way to lift our own spirits that always works. Do something nice for someone else. Amazing how when we get our focus off ourselves and onto someone else, we feel better. We can start with a kind word and warm smile if we can’t think of another way, but I’m guessing one good deed will lead to another, and a sense of fulfillment which will please you. Best yet, Jesus is ALWAYS available to give our spirits a lift. This lift grows our faith and trust. We can ask God to sprinkle whatever difficulties we experience with a strong consciousness of Jesus and His love and to enable us to recognize His touch. Even in a rare and historic pandemic, growing in the love of Jesus can lift our spirits.
