Start Afresh

             

             Bright eyed, eager faces under royal blue mortarboards marched into the auditorium their gowns swishing past proud parents gathered to smile and cheer their graduates’ accomplishments. Armed with a camera to record the milestone event, I marveled at how wide open the doors of the future appeared to these young people.  Freshly steeped in knowledge appropriate to the fields they desired to pursue, their brisk steps reflected their eagerness to make a mark in their world. Their world–a changing world full of beckoning challenges and opportunities. With the tedium of studies behind them and a sea of hopes and dreams in front of them, they were marking the start of a new beginning.

            Ah, new beginnings. The wonder of a fresh start. Yet each of us can always access a new beginning, a fresh start no matter how stagnant life might feel or how old we are. When we ask God to refresh us, He is ready and able to blow the renewing breeze of His Holy Spirit on us, to open our minds to insights that encourage us and will hearten others. Each prayer is a fresh start that will open doors of hope. Let’s keep our eyes open to catch every little ray of sunshine He sends to warm us so that we may, in turn, find fulfillment in warming others.
