Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Talents

With two strong, sure blows, the handyman pounded a nail into the wood under my cabinet to hold my kitchen tongs. With several swift strokes of her watercolor brush, my granddaughter painted a green tree to illustrate a picture for me to hang on my wall.  With a hug and a whisper, my friend reassured me I was loved. We all possess useful talents. Sometimes they help us earn money. Sometimes the talent brings a sense of satisfaction. Sometimes a talent bestows a blessing on someone else. Viewing our talents as gifts which God gave us, helps us remember to use them for others as well as for our own benefit. Investing time and money to develop and expand our skills broadens our opportunities. Using our talents brings satisfaction. Lavishing our talents on others, brings us a sense of fulfillment.  Luke 6:38 tells us, ‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.’

Take time to acknowledge and thank God for the talents He built into our lives. If you aren’t sure what talents you have, ask God to show you. He has bestowed some skills and talents on every one. If you aren’t sure how God wants you to utilize your talents, ask and He will show you His plans for your talents. It’s a Biblical principle that God multiplies His blessing to us when we use our time, talent, and treasure to bless others.
