Tarantulas
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Tarantulas
The museum promised a display of hundreds of tarantulas from many foreign lands, I couldn’t imagine an entire room full of glass display boxes occupied with tarantulas, big, hairy tarantulas. However, my great-grandchildren thought the idea was ‘cool’ so off we went. I was prepared for long legs and a strong shudder factor, but I had no idea tarantulas came in red, yellow, stripped and a wide variety of browns and black combinations. Actually, the variety and origins of these many big, hairy critters made the displays quite interesting. As an added benefit, the security of their glass boxes reduced the shudder factor considerably; and I learned new things. In their proper environment which, thankfully, isn’t mine, they apparently serve a purpose. They are a good example of the wide range of critters God chose to inhabit the earth.
As well as some fascinating critters, God’s created a wide variety of human beings. We are well advised to give the people He created the benefit of the doubt and get to know them before we prejudge them. If we are careful not to lump any one group of individuals into any particular unflattering category, our lives will be kinder and more interesting. Thankfully, God’s patience with us is a good example. His forbearance with us is beyond our comprehension. We can aim to find reasons to be thankful for those who are different from us. We might discover some great blessings. In return they might return us the favor. Well, probably not the tarantulas.
