Thanksgiving in 2020?!!?
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Thanksgiving in 2020?!!?
What a year! This year presented us with floods and hurricanes, tornados and fires, confusion and disagreements, and a nasty, stubborn, global pandemic. Covid 19 continues to give us death and grief. In the face of all that, let’s search together for what we can be thankful for in the midst of these difficulties.
Fruit still grew on trees. Vegetables still pushed up the soil of farms and gardens. Amber waves of grain still occupied the plains of our land. Thank you, God, for food. People still transport food from place to place. Doctors and nurses still care for the sick. Firemen still put out fires, and policemen still answer alarming calls. Thank you, God, for all those who work in service fields to meet other people’s needs.
Creeks, rivers and waterfalls still flow to carry water and supply our needs as well as provide attractive scenes that calm our minds. Mountains and hills still stand to remind us of our creative God. Thank you, God, for all the beauty You have created on our globe. Many, many people still care about the welfare of their fellow man. We can thank God that most people care about others, even in the midst of the vastly conflicting ways they express it. We can thank God that most people desire for others to prosper even if while holding conflicting ideas of how to insure people do well. And we can thank our God for the friends and family we have, even when our flaws sometimes grate on one another’s nerves. We can each go on and on with reasons for thankfulness. Making your list will help turn the disappointments and heartaches of 2020 into a thankful spirit. Best on our list is that we can thank God for the love He has for all mankind, especially you and me. Thank you, God, for your love. Even 2020 can provide reasons for thankfulness. Make your own list.
