Trains, Trains, and More Trains
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Trains, Trains and More Trains
One after another the long trains came through Winslow, Arizona, a small town for so much traffic. Minute after minute they came. Some going West and some East. The area had five parallel tracks to accommodate the traffic. One only had to wait moments to see another train come or go. One was a passenger train which stopped to unload people, but most of the trains were carrying freight from coast to coast. The station supplied lawn chairs for the people who gathered to watch the powerful engines pulling dozens of cars, intriguing symbols of strength and efficiency.
Our lives can become so busy we feel a little like trains going here and there and back again with hardly time to stop our schedule for anything unscheduled. We pick up and unload children for activities, we load up groceries or materials to work on the house. We wave as we pass our neighbors, but don’t stop to visit. We can drive our cars North, South, East, and West without feeling powerful, strong or efficient. Just as the movement of trains need to be managed by a dispatcher to keep them on time and to prevent accidents, we are wise to submit our schedule to our Lord. Ask God to show us when we have crowded our schedules too much for too long. Ask Him to show us how to maximize our efficiency and prevent accidents from overloading and overcrowding our schedules.
