Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Trust
Our society is based on trust more than we sometimes notice. Recently driving down an interstate that had overpasses over the highways and bridges over bodies of water, I reflected on the fact that when I am driving on top of the highway, I only see the surface of the road and don’t see the structural underpinnings below me that holds us up. I trust it is sound and that those charged with inspecting such things are doing their job. I do read newspapers and listen to radio or TV news that help me stay better informed, but I don’t agonize over each and every item I put into my grocery cart. I trust the people tasked with the job of certifying the safety of the product to do their job well and catch the problems when they arise. We would reach the point of blubbering incoherence if we fretted over every possible danger in our days.
We all benefit from reflecting on where we place our ultimate trust. If we can grasp the goodness of our God, our trust in our mighty God will carry us along the highway of life. Although we humans understand our powerful Heavenly Father only in part, when we catch a glimmer of the magnificent love of our Heavenly Father and the powerful authority He possesses, we can relax with trust in His caring inspection of the underpinnings of our days as we pick our way through the hazards of this life. God, increase our comprehension of Your superb nature that we might grow in our trust of You. Enable us to know where to give credence to concerns and heed warnings and when to drive forward without worries.
