Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Violence
Hearts break as we watch our televisions. Grief envelops us at the sight of a person taking another’s life right there on the television screen before our eyes. Other lives are lost in the uncontrolled anger that follows. People are seriously injured. We weep with the man who worked hard to establish a small business that was destroyed by fire, and he has no insurance. How many, many times is this repeated across our nation. The theft, the fires, the destruction, the loss of property and life. God please pour out your wisdom and grace on this situation. You love everyone involved in any way. You see and understand every point of view, every opinion. Every person matters to You. God, please help our grief, help us understand how You feel. Dear God, help us to love with Your purity and act and speak in accord with Your character. Give us self-restraint no matter what our opinions. Help us control our anger. Help us forgive as You forgive us and to love so that those wounded can find the comfort You want to bring. God, You wait patiently for each of us to move closer to You and absorb Your compassion so that we respond as You want. Give us Your patience as we, mere humans, struggle with what the world is in contrast to what we would wish it to be.
Micah 6:8 NASB
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
