Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Virginia Highland Dancers
Attractive costumes, amazing strength and stamina produced a lovely dance performance accompanying stirring Highland music. The audience responded with broad smiles and spontaneous clapping. The delightful performance raised our spirits. Both discipline and persistence were required to step, jump, and pivot in perfect formation. The audience was pleased with the attractive spectacle. The girls made their performance look like fun. Activities that make people happy for a space of time deserve praise and are worthy of the time and effort to achieve it. Life on this earth offers plenty of opportunities to worry and fear about the state of our world and our loved ones. Something that lifts spirits is beneficial. People leave such a performance with renewed strength to face the trials that invade our days
We don’t need to be extremely talented in unusual ways to raise spirits. Taking time to censure the words we allow our tongues to speak is a good place to start. We can purpose to speak compliments where appropriate. We can decide to stay alert to good deeds, positive attitudes and compliment those traits when we encounter them. We can discipline ourselves so that we aren’t filling the air with complaints over trivial matters. Consider instead thanking our Lord God for the pattern of our days, whether they are full of high-stepping delights like the highland dancers, or they are discouraging and full of stumbles. If we thank God for His care and love in our lives even in the midst of disappointing missteps, we will find He is there to lift our spirits and give us the courage to persevere.
