Waiting

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Waiting

The gap between the discovery of something that carries the possibility of disaster and the arrival of the verdict can challenge our faith. Waiting is challenging. In any time of uncertainty, the best response to a period of waiting is to focus on the love of God. We know we need to exercise our faith in spite of all the possibilities that attend our unknowns, but attaining a semblance of peace in the midst of a storm can test us. Regardless of what the situation is, regardless of the potential for a bad result, the wait offers an opportunity to cultivate our faith. Waiting is easiest if we manage to keep our eyes on our God, to keep our thoughts fastened on God’s goodness.

God is always there to carry us through the trials of life. Our knowledge that sometimes the results of waiting for a verdict can range from disappointing to downright heart breaking makes waiting in faith more difficult. So, what do we do in difficult waits? We know we can search our Bible for verses which speak of God’s love. We know we can sing hymns and choruses that affirm the goodness and faithfulness of God. Instinctively we search out articles and books that affirm the goodness of God and aim at helping us grow in our faith. Wisdom motivates us to ask others to pray for us and stand with us in the Battle of Waiting.
