Weakness
Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement
Weakness
So often, winter seems to bring colds, flu, or worse. When we recover from some sicknesses, there may follow a period of weakness as we work to recover our strength. The sense of weakness is annoying. We find our endurance seriously reduced, our muscular strength lacking, or our emotional flexibility restricted.
The path to recovery requires some self-discipline and common sense. To grow stronger, we need to push ourselves beyond what feels comfortable. At the same time, we need to recognize the necessary balance of rest and relaxation in our endeavor to regain strength. Just as when we do sets of physical exercise, we need the rest between sets in order to reap the benefits of the next exercise set, so it is with recovery from whatever has assaulted our lives, colds, flu or grief and sorrow from loss. Loss of dreams, loss of provision, loss of respect are some of the losses which bring us to weak points in our lives. However, in His word, God tells us that He will use our weaknesses to bring strength. (2 Corinthians 11:33, 34.) When we give our areas of weakness, be it physical, emotional or spiritual to God, He will somehow exchange our weakness with His strength to benefit His kingdom here on earth. He will enable us to overcome, and surprise us with how He will use what we regret to bring blessings beyond our wildest dreams or most outlandish expectations.
God, we give You our weaknesses, both those we recognize and those we don’t. Please teach us to rely only on You and turn our weaknesses into Your strength.
